Frequently Asked questions lgreentalk

You’re finally willing to try something new for a difficult problem you haven’t been able to solve alone.  You’ve tried that already and it’s not working as well as you’d like it to.  Talking to friends and family only gets you so far or actually makes things worse.  Now, you’re preparing to take the next step to finding solutions.  That’s what a trained professional is for. I bring to you my objectivity, many years of education and experience, and my strong desire to help.

It is Integrative/Eclectic.  I utilize Psychodynamic, Existential, Cognitive Behavior (CBT), Emotion Focused (EFT) and Strengths-Based therapies most of the time.  If you have any questions, I’m happy to explain more when we talk on your scheduled phone consultation!

Message me on the Contact page or call me at 267.214.8722 to set up a free 15-minute phone consultation.  If we decide to move forward, I will send you paperwork to fill out and schedule your first session.

I want to learn about what’s going on with you right now, what you need help with, and to explain the steps involved in making the first appointment.  You may want to ask me some questions as well.  This also gives us  the opportunity to see  if we might be a good fit.

Yes, I see adults in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s....to 110!

I offer Telehealth therapy to people living in the greater Philadelphia area and throughout the state of Pennsylvania.

It’s very similar to in-person therapy.  Therapist and client are face to face and research shows comparable outcomes.  Importantly, it provides remarkable lifestyle flexibility.  For example, you don’t have to factor in things like travel time, parking, gas or waiting rooms.  You get to select a comfortable private space in your home or office.  Sometimes, people opt to be in their cars on lunch breaks, in between running errands or when visiting somewhere.  For many, it is these conveniences that make therapy possible to attend.

I use Simple Practice, a secure HIPAA compliant platform that can be easily downloaded onto both your computer and phone.  You will receive appointment reminders which can  be a helpful tool in a distracting world.

Standard therapy sessions are typically 45 to 50 minutes in duration.

I strongly recommend that you start off with doing therapy once a week.  If it makes sense to transition to twice or once a month we can make that determination together.

That really depends on a variety of factors.  Some clients find that short term therapy, 8 to 12 sessions, is sufficient to meet their goals.  Other clients who feel they are achieving significant relief or benefiting from self-growth prefer long term therapy- a period of a few years or more.

It’s $130.00 per session.  If you are already an established client and need either a shorter or longer single session, that can be arranged, schedule permitting.  The fee is adjusted accordingly.

No, I do not take insurance at this time.  But I can provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement.  You can contact their member services department to inquire about out-of-network coverage.

Many clients prefer the greater confidentiality afforded by not going through their Insurance company.  They do not want strangers to know their personal ‘business’ or to have to justify their need for therapy.  In addition, Insurance companies often dictate the number of sessions that will be covered and require the therapist to produce a mental health diagnosis after only one session!

Yes, I do, based on financial hardship and availability.

Please give 24 hour notice of cancellation or you will be charged the full cost of the session.

An estimate of costs will be discussed prior to your first visit.  In accordance with the "No Surprises Act," (www.cms.gov/nosurprise) a written "Good Faith Estimate" is available upon request.
